On Wednesday in Belfast, the UEFA Super Cup match took place. The victory and the Super Cup trophies were won by the footballers of London's "Chelsea", who defeated "Villarreal" after a penalty shootout. "Chelsea" took control of the match from the beginning, and the first goal came in the 27th minute, scored by Hakim Ziyech. The same Moroccan player had to leave the field at the end of the first half due to a shoulder injury. In the second half, "Villarreal" became more active and created several dangerous moments near the opponents' goal. Ultimately, this paid off, and in the 73rd minute Gerard Moreno equalized the score. After the missed goal, "Chelsea" regained the initiative, but the main time of the match ended in a draw, leading the teams to play extra time. During the additional half an hour, the teams were unable to score, so the winner was determined in a penalty shootout. Interestingly, at the end of extra time, Thomas Tuchel decided to substitute goalkeeper Kepa. The Spaniard justified the coach's trust by deflecting two opponent shots, and "Chelsea" triumphed in the penalty shootout with a score of 6:5.
