Chile wants to host the 2030 World Championship.

Chile is ready to consider the possibility of being among the contenders to host the 2030 World Cup, while Argentina does not have such plans yet, according to the local press.

On Monday, the president of the Chilean Football Federation, Sergio Jadue, stated that he had talked to FIFA officials about the possibility of hosting the World Cup in 2030, both for Chile alone and together with Uruguay.

Unofficially, it was said that Argentina could also be among the contenders to host this championship. However, the vice president of the country's football association (AFA), Miguel Angel Silva, rejected such a possibility.

"Argentina is not thinking about the 2030 World Cup. We have not considered such plans. Argentina will not be among the contenders," - quoted M.A. Silva by the Chilean newspaper "La Tercera."

The 2030 World Cup will mark the centenary jubilee. The first championship took place in Uruguay in 1930. It is likely that FIFA would be favorable to hosting the tournament in South America.

Chile hosted the World Cup only once in 1962.

In this year's World Cup, held in Brazil, the Chilean national team won against Australia 3:1, defeated Spain 2:0, and lost to the future bronze medalist Netherlands 0:2 in the group stage. In the round of 16, Chile lost to the tournament hosts Brazil after a penalty shootout, with a score of 2:3. The normal time and extra time ended in a 1:1 draw.

Russia will be the host of the 2018 World Cup, and FIFA has entrusted Qatar with organizing the tournament in 2022.
