Andreas Pereira was invited to the Brazilian national team camp for the first time in his career. Nevertheless, the footballer could have chosen not to play there.
Born in Dufer, Belgium, A. Pereira played in the Belgium U15, U16, and U17 teams. However, he defended Brazil's honor in the U20 and U23 teams. For a long time, his teammate at Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku, tried to persuade him to choose Belgium.
Nevertheless, A. Pereira is already preparing to go to Brazil, despite Lukaku's significant efforts.
"He tried to convince me. He always repeated to me that I should play for Belgium. He always came to talk to me.
I kept telling him that it was difficult, that I couldn't do it, and that it wasn't the same. Playing for Belgium is something else. Playing for Brazil... I feel at home.
Then he told me that if that's really how I feel, I should listen to my heart. He respected my decision," A. Pereira revealed.
