When the time comes for players to represent their national teams, it is possible to look at those who currently look the best in their clubs this season.
The football news portal Goal.com decided to select a symbolic team for the start of the season.
Goalkeeper - Gianluigi Donarumma ("Milan"). He is only 17 years old, but he is already considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world. With his excellent performances, he is leading "Milan" forward along with Carlos Bacca. A great example of this is stopping an 11-meter penalty in the 96th minute of the opening match of the season.
Right-back - Sergi Roberto ("Barcelona"). It seems that "Barça" will no longer need the services of Hector Bellerin, as this Spaniard has perfectly replaced Dani Alves. Not only does he play solidly in defense, he also made four assists.
Center-back - Diego Godin (Madrid "Atletico"). The captain of the "Mattresses" has already become a regular in the lists of the best. The 30-year-old Uruguayan is once again proving his ability this season.
Center-back - Francesco Acerbi ("Sassuolo"). Perhaps the least famous member of the symbolic team is one of the main reasons why "Sassuolo" became a respected team in the Italian championship and started in the UEFA Europa League by defeating Bilbao "Athletic".
Left-back - Raphael Guerreiro (Dortmund "Borussia"). Having attracted this newcomer even before the European Championship, the German club can feel like a true winner. The Portuguese not only represented his national team well, but also played superbly in the BvB ranks.
Defensive midfielder - Joshua Kimmich (Munich "Bayern"). Pep Guardiola had already expressed his admiration for the 21-year-old midfielder. According to the Spaniard, Kimmich "has absolutely everything". This season he is proving it by playing both defensive midfield and right-back positions. In addition, the German has already scored five goals.
Right winger - Sadio Mane ("Liverpool"). The Senegalese opened his goal account in the new team in just 63 minutes of play. In total, he scored twice this season and was one of the main parts of the hurricane-like "Liverpool" attack.
Left winger - Franck Ribery (Munich "Bayern"). Despite injuries, the 33-year-old veteran demonstrates that it is too early to write him off. The Frenchman scored two goals this season and made eight assists.
Attacking midfielder - Kevin De Bruyne ("Manchester City"). If there were still doubts about the Belgian's importance to "City", it became clear when the team lost to London's "Tottenham". De Bruyne is the key man around whom Pep Guardiola's attacking mechanism revolves.
Forward - Gonzalo Higuain (Turin "Juventus"). Many looked skeptically at Juventus' decision to pay 90 million euros for the Argentine. However, Higuain silenced all critics by scoring seven goals in just 555 minutes of play.
Forward - Mario Balotelli ("Nice"). The resurgence of "Super Mario" became one of the most interesting stories of this season. After a poor last year, the Italian scored immediately in the first five games with the French port city club.
