On Wednesday at 19:55 local Lithuanian time, two matches from groups E and F were played in the new season of the UEFA Champions League.
In a return to the tournament, the Amsterdam team "Ajax" hosted the long-time participant in the old continent's strongest cup, Ateneo AEK team. In the second half, "Ajax" thrilled their fans with a 3-0 victory.
In the 46th minute, "Ajax" took the lead with Nicolas Tagliafico's goal. After a quick goal in the second half, the Dutch dominated and created several more dangerous opportunities.
In the 77th minute, the hosts increased their lead, when Donny van de Beek left no chance for the AEK goalkeeper with a powerful shot after a great pass from Dusan Tadic.
The final touch came at the end of the match - the scorer of the first goal, N. Tagliafico, scored a wonderful goal with his left foot.
In the same group, "Ajax" competes against Lisbon's "Benfica" and Munich's "Bayern".
In group F, Donetsk's "Shakhtar" faced off against "Hoffenheim" away from home. At the end of the match, the Ukrainians reached a 2-2 draw.
"Hoffenheim" took the lead in the 6th minute, but Ismaily equalized for the hosts in the 27th minute. However, the same result did not stay on the scoreboard for long as Nordtveit scored for the visitors in the 38th minute.
In the second half, "Shakhtar" did not give up - in the 81st minute, Maycon brought the equalizer to the Donetsk team.
"Shakhtar" and "Hoffenheim" have two more threatening opponents in their group - "Lyon" and "Man City".
