On Tuesday, the UEFA Champions League tournament kicked off, immediately offering a clash of two giants. Bayern Munich comfortably defeated Barcelona 3-0 in their away match. The guests took the lead after 33 minutes, when Thomas Muller scored a goal. In the 56th minute, Bayern doubled their advantage through Robert Lewandowski. The same Polish player sealed the victory for the German champions in the 85th minute.
In other matches, the last season's tournament winners, Chelsea, struggled to beat Zenit with a narrow 1-0 victory at home. Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal of the match in the 69th minute.
