At 19:55 in the UEFA Champions League, the first two matches of groups A and B were played.
A huge surprise was recorded in Greece, where the local Piraeus "Olympiacos" showed character and achieved a draw against London's "Tottenham" - 2:2.
From the very beginning of the match, the Greeks were not ready to give in to their opponents from England and imposed their game conditions in the first ten minutes.
Having not scored a goal, the hosts were punished in the 26th minute after their mistake - one of the defenders committed a foul against Harry Kane in the penalty area and a penalty kick was awarded to their goal. H. Kane accurately converted it to put the visitors ahead.
The problems for "Olympiacos" did not end there - in the 30th minute, Ben Davies intercepted the ball in the middle of the field and passed it to Lucas Moura, who defeated the opponents' goalkeeper from about 18 meters.
However, even after two painful blows, "Olympiacos" did not give up - in the 44th minute, Daniel Podence scored an important goal, shining in the penalty area from the first minute.
The second half for the hosts started as if from a playbook - in the 54th minute, a penalty kick was already awarded to Hugo Lloris' goal. Jan Vertonghen fouled Mathieu Valbuena and he stepped up to take the penalty. The Frenchman's shot was accurate and "Olympiacos" was already celebrating a draw.
After the second missed goal, "Tottenham" took control of the ball, but it was not enough to overturn the result - ultimately, the teams shared the points.
In the other match between "Club Brugge" and Istanbul's "Galatasaray", a goalless draw was recorded.
