On Wednesday, five matches of the last qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League were played. All five contests started at 21:45 Lithuanian time.
The most attention was drawn to the duel between the clubs "Porto" and "Roma". After a fierce and emotional clash, neither team managed to achieve victory.
From the very beginning of the match, there was a fierce battle on the field. The first goal fell in the 21st minute when defender Felipe Monteiro played poorly after a corner kick. It was precisely after his unsuccessful touch that the ball ended up in the net, and the guests from Italy gained the advantage.
After the missed goal, "Porto" sent their forces on the attack and created several dangerous opportunities. In the 41st minute, the hosts also received a gift from the referee when Thomas Vermaelen, making his debut for "Roma," was sent off the field for a second yellow card.
In the second half, "Porto" dominated and pressed opponents from Rome. In the 61st minute, the score was equalized from the penalty spot, but no more goals were scored during the remaining time, and the entire battle moved to Italy.
In other no less interesting matches, "Villarreal" had to admit the superiority of "Monaco" on their field. Fabinho led the French ahead from the penalty spot at the beginning of the match, but Alexandre Pato equalized the score in the 36th minute. "Submarines" failed to keep it level, and Bernard Silva scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute.
In another match, Glasgow "Celtic" defeated their Israeli opponents with a score of 5-2, while "Ludogorets" and "Legia" outperformed their opponents with the same result of 2-0.
