Clear potential rivals of "Panevėžys" in the Champions League

The football club "Panevėžys" increasingly shifts its focus towards the Champions League matches, in which they will participate for the first time. After the recent tournament final, the residents of Panevėžys learned their opponents in the first qualification round.

After Madrid's "Real" club defeated Dortmund's "Borussia" footballers, the two highest-rated seeded teams - Budapest's "Ferencvaro" and Agdam's "Qarabag" - advanced to the second round, so in the first round Panevėžys potentially could compete not with 15, but with 14 opponents.

The future opponents of "Panevėžys" in the first round, starting from the highest rating, could be Bratislava's "Slovan" (Slovakia), Razgrad's "Ludogorec" (Bulgaria), Helsinki's HJK (Finland), Tallinn's "Flora" (Estonia), Bucharest's FCSB (Romania), "Klaksvik" (Faroe Islands), Dublin's "Shamrock Rovers" (Ireland), "Lincoln Red Imps" (Gibraltar), Oswestry's "The New Saints" (Wales), Yerevan's "Pyunik" (Armenia), Riga's RFS (Latvia), Hîncești's "Petrocub" (Moldova), Tërnod's "Ballkani" (Kosovo) and Banja Luka's "Borac" (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

The draws for the first qualifying round of the Champions League will take place on June 18. After overcoming the first opponent, the matches will continue in the second round, and in case of defeat - the journey on the international front will continue in the second qualifying round of the Conference League, competing against other eliminated national champions.

The next match for "Panevėžys" will take place on June 16, Sunday. The 17th round of the "TOPsport A lyga" match against Vilnius' "Žalgiris" at LFF Stadium will start at 18:25.
