Today, two capital teams started the 2017-18 season at London's Wembley Stadium.
In the Community Shield trophy match, Chelsea faced Arsenal. Antonio Conte's players once again had to admit the Gunners' superiority in the final - they lost in the penalty shootout in the battle for the first trophy of the season.
The first half was dominated by tough football. The Gunners attacked more and more dangerously, and at the beginning of the half, Alexandre Lacazette could have put Arsenal ahead, but the ball hit the woodwork.
The next 45 minutes were much more interesting. The Wembley Stadium saw the first goal in the early stages of the half - Victor Moses ran towards the opponents' goal after a failed Arsenal clearance and sent the ball into the net.
After conceding the goal, Arsenal increased their efforts in attack - Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott made attempts on goal. The Gunners tried to attack more sharply, but apart from a powerful Granit Xhaka shot, Thibaut Courtois was not troubled.
However, in the 80th minute, a mistake by Pedro cost Chelsea dearly - the Spaniard was sent off for a second yellow card, and Arsenal equalized during the subsequent set-piece - Sead Kolasinac scored with his head.
In the remaining time, both teams did not score any more goals, so they resorted to penalty shootouts. In this lottery, luck was not on Chelsea's side - the Blues missed two shots, while Arsenal converted all four and won the Community Shield trophy.
In this tournament, Arsenal triumphs for the 15th time in the club's history.
