During the summer, the Madrid team "Atletico" had to come to terms with more than one painful loss.
Among the players who left were Antoine Griezmann, Diego Godin, and Lucas Hernandez. A. Griezmann was an undisputed star of the team, but Diego Simeone was not as upset about his departure as he was about his fellow countryman L. Hernandez's move to "Bayern" Munich.
"His departure hurt us the most," admitted D. Simeone. "He was a product of our academy. It was more painful than losing Griezmann."
When asked about A. Griezmann's decision to move to "Barcelona", D. Simeone did not hold any grudges against the Frenchman.
"I talked to him several times after he left. Antoine is where he wanted to be. He is a shy guy who doesn't talk much, is calm and always happy.
I have no doubts that he will have a successful career at Barcelona. Everything now depends on Valverde," added D. Simeone.
