On Sunday, the strongest team of the Confederations Cup was revealed in Saint Petersburg. In the decisive match, Germany defeated Chile 1-0.
At the beginning of the match, the South American champions dominated. A. Vidal made a great pass into the penalty area, but J. Low's players managed to defend. Soon after, the goalkeeper himself tested ter Stegen's vigilance with a distant shot.
A. Sanchez and E. Vargas had their chances.
The silent Germans once again proved the truth of the proverb "if you don't score, they will." M. Diaz lost the ball in front of his goal, and T. Werner took it and made a pass to L. Stindl, who scored the first goal of the match.
The Chileans tried to retaliate and controlled the ball for longer, but the Europeans responded with dangerous counterattacks.
In the 36th minute, J. Draxler made a great pass to L. Goretzka, but he shot wide.
In the 40th minute, J. Draxler missed the goal.
The half could have ended with a German goal, but L. Goretzka once again failed to capitalize on a great opportunity.
The second half started with cautious play from both sides.
In the 55th minute, J. Draxler broke into the opponent's penalty area but G. Jara managed to defend.
A few moments later, A. Vidal and J. Kimmich clashed in the penalty area - both received yellow cards.
In the 64th minute, G. Jara hit T. Werner in the face, and after a video review, the referee showed a yellow card.
In the 72nd minute, a shot from A. Sanchez was "blocked" by the German defenders.
With nothing to lose, the Chileans launched several dangerous attacks, but neither E. Vargas nor A. Sagal could beat ter Stegen.
Result: Chile 0 - 1 Germany
20' [0 - 1] L. Stindl
