Lionel Scaloni's players could not maintain their advantage in Group A and played 1:1 against Chile at the Rio de Janeiro stadium. One of the tournament favorites took the lead after 33 minutes with a goal from L. Messi, but in the 57th minute E. Vargas managed to equalize the score.
