"Viasat Sport Baltic" (VSB) viewers will receive a new gift. This channel will broadcast the "Copa America" football championship for the first time, where the strongest national teams from South, Central, and North America will play. The tournament will feature stars like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Angel di Maria, James Rodriguez, Alexis Sanchez, Dani Alves, and many other celebrities. VSB plans to show most of the championship matches, which will take place from June 3-26. The tournament will be held in the USA for the first time, not in South America. 16 teams will compete in the competition, divided into 4 groups. In the first group, the strongest teams like Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and the USA will play. In the second group, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, and Ecuador will compete, in the third - Costa Rica, Jamaica, Panama, and Haiti, and in the fourth - Paraguay, Peru, Bolivia, and Venezuela. The two strongest teams from each group will advance to the next stage, the quarterfinals. Last year, the "Copa America" championship was held in Chile. The hosts, Chileans, won the tournament by defeating Argentinians 4-1 in a penalty shootout. Uruguayan footballers have won the championship the most times - fifteen (most recently in 2011). Argentina has won the tournament fourteen times, but the last time was back in 1993. Brazil has triumphed in eight championships (last in 2007), Peru and Paraguay in two, and Chile, Colombia, and Bolivia each in one. These competitions have been held since 1916. Until 1975, they were called the South American Championship. North American teams did not participate in the tournament back then. Schedule of this weekend's broadcasts: June 4 at 4:25 a.m. (from Friday night to Saturday) USA - Colombia, 11:55 p.m. Costa Rica - Paraguay, June 5 (from Saturday night to Sunday) at 2:25 a.m. Haiti - Peru, at 4:55 a.m. Brazil - Ecuador, at 11:55 p.m. Jamaica - Venezuela, June 6 (from Sunday night to Monday) at 2:25 a.m. Mexico - Uruguay.
