Colombia was saved by the fantastic performance of Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina. Colombian team coach Jose Pekerman included 4 new players in the starting lineup before the match, putting Radamel Falcao on the bench. However, neither the changed formation nor the new blood helped the Colombians. They only had one shot on goal in the entire 90 minutes. At the start of the penalty shootout, both teams scored the first three penalties, and then Colombian Luis Muriel missed. L. Biglia could have brought victory with a crucial shot when the score was 4:4, but he missed. After both teams missed additional shots, the order was Camilo Zuniga (Col), Marcos Rojo (Arg), and Murillo (Col), so the seventh shot by C. Tevez was decisive.
