"Copa America" tournament could turn into a mini world championship

Seeing Cristiano Ronaldo lifting the trophies of the "Copa America" tournament is a sight from the realm of fantasy, but it could become reality in just a couple of years.

"GloboEsporte" reports that the South American football federation CONMEBOL and Brazilian football representatives CBF have started considering an incredible project, and they plan to invite six additional national teams to the 2019 championship.

These would likely be representatives from other continents - China, Portugal, Spain, Japan, USA, Mexico.

This decision would be made in order to attract more commercial success - because, for example, a decisive match between Argentina and Portugal would draw a huge audience worldwide.

The 2019 "Copa America" tournament will be the last in its current format - a five-year break is planned after the impressive event.
