On Sunday, in the Spanish capital, the much-anticipated return leg of the 2018 "Copa Libertadores" final finally took place.
Two teams from Buenos Aires, "River Plate" and "Boca Juniors," fought for the most important South American football trophy. The extra time battle at the "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium ended with impressive goals and a victory for the "River Plate" team with a score of 3:1 (5:3).
At the end of the first half, "Boca Juniors" created an impressive attack, with Dario Benedetto at the center. The forward deceived several opponents and scored the first goal of the match.
In the second half, "River Plate" found ways to equalize - playing as if in a choreography, "River Plate" leveled the score, and after a superb pass from Ignacio Fernandez, Lucas Pratto scored.
During the regular time, both teams failed to score, so they had to go into extra time, as the first match also ended in a 2:2 draw. The extra time started tragically for the "Boca Juniors" team - during the first attacks, Wilamras Barrios received his second yellow card.
In the final ten minutes, the "Boca Juniors" players created several dangerous opportunities, but in the 109th minute, "River Plate" took the lead when Juan Quintero scored an impressive shot.
At the very end of the match, as the entire "Boca Juniors" team prepared for a final corner kick, "River Plate" intercepted the ball and launched a fast counterattack, where Gonzalo Martinez secured the team's victory.
"River Plate" won the "Copa Libertadores" trophy for the fourth time in their club's history.
