The ambitious Brazilian club continues to make high-profile player acquisitions, and on Friday it announced the return to his homeland of forward Vagner Love. Today, Saturday, the Portuguese champion confirmed that defender Carlos Alberto is also returning to Brazil.

Midway through last year, Vagner Love moved from "Palmeiras" to a Moscow team for 6 million euros. He helped the team from the Russian capital secure second place in the country's championship and reach the main tournament of the Champions League, but unfortunately the team had to withdraw from further competition after the group stage.

Despite a decent season, the 20-year-old Brazilian did not like the Russian winter and the fact that playing in a distant country meant he was no longer called up to the Brazilian national team, even though he made his debut last year in a Copa America match against Costa Rica.

Currently on vacation in Brazil, Vagner Love does not plan to return to Moscow. He has already reached an agreement on the conditions of a contract with "Corinthians", although both clubs will have to agree on the transfer fee - it is believed that "CSKA" wants 7.5 million euros for the player.

Meanwhile, his contemporary Carlos Alberto had an even better time in Europe. In January 2004, he moved to "Porto" for 3 million euros, and in just a year the Brazilian managed to win the Champions League, scoring the first goal in the final, as well as the Portuguese league and the Intercontinental Cup.

However, this season C. Alberto couldn't play much due to injury, and it seems he was enticed by the offer to return to his homeland. "Corinthians" will pay 6 million euros for the player, but "Porto" will only receive half of the amount, as the other half belongs to a group of agents holding 50% of the player's rights.

These are not the first acquisitions made by "Corinthians" in recent times - a month ago, the Brazilian club shocked the football world by announcing the acquisition of the best player in South America (also 20 years old), the Argentine Carlos Tevez. The club began making such investments when it started receiving support from the mysterious London-based Media Sports Investments group.
