San Paulo withdrew a €46 million offer for forward Carlos Tevez, which they had made to the club.

Although it was said that the negotiations were nearing completion, the Brazilian team admitted that they would not be able to complete all the formalities in time. The transfer window in the country closes on Thursday morning.

"The deal needs more time," said a statement from Corinthians. "We know that the fans are eager to see Tevez in the team, so we will try to acquire him in January."

It is currently unclear if there will be other clubs willing to pay such an impressive sum for the Argentine. Tevez himself does not hide his desire to leave for family reasons.

Last season, the striker scored 20 goals in the English Premier League.
