Coronavirus claimed the life of former "Marseille" club president.

On Tuesday evening, the COVID-19 virus claimed the life of former president of the French Marseille club "Olympique" Pape Diouf. The 68-year-old Senegalese man passed away in his native country.

The "Olympique" club expressed their condolences on social media.

"The club sadly announces the death of P. Diouf. He will remain forever in the hearts of those who care about our team. He was one of the best specialists in his field in the history of the club. We send our condolences to his family and loved ones," the club's statement read.

P. Diouf was diagnosed with a COVID-19 infection in Senegal.

P. Diouf served as the president of the Marseille club from 2005-2009. Previously, he worked as a journalist and football agent.

It is with great sadness that Olympique de Marseille learned of the death of Pape Diouf.

Pape will remain in the hearts of the Marseillais forever, as one of the great architects in the club's history.
