Longtime "Sevilla" club president Jose Maria del Nido resigned from his position on Monday morning.

The Spaniard, accused of corruption and embezzlement, was sentenced to seven years in prison in the Highest Court of Madrid.

"I apologize to the 'Sevilla' club. The day has come that we never expected and it has broken our hearts," the Spaniard said.

"Over my 27 years with this team, I have helped and given everything I could. I leave this club with regret, sadness, and humility," J.M. Del Nido confessed.

The Spaniard held the position of president for 11 years and 6 months.
