Thieves significantly complicated the club's preparation for the upcoming English championship matches in a few days.
Upon arriving at the training base, footballers noticed that four bags with 48 training balls had been stolen. Coach Roberto Martinez had to instruct the players to do stretching exercises, while the staff had to search for the missing items.
However, the thieves had left one bag behind, so the footballers had some balls to use. In addition, replacements for the missing balls were soon found.
Upon receiving a report about the theft, the local police are investigating the incident.
