Croatian national team fans during the match with Italy in Poznan (1:1) threw bananas at the opponent's forward Mario Balotelli from the stands. After one Italian attack, this was noticed by an AFP photographer.
Bananas were flying onto the field from the stands, which were filled with Croatian national team supporters. Poznan stadium workers and UEFA representatives quickly collected the fruits that landed on the grass.
The AFP photographer also claimed that every time M. Balotelli touched the ball, a monkey-like sound could be heard from this stand.
Even before the start of "Euro 2012", the Italian national team forward, giving an interview to the "France football" magazine, hoped that there would be no problems with racism at the European Championship.
"I don't tolerate such things," - the 21-year-old footballer did not hide his feelings.
