Madrid's "Real" club superstar Cristiano Ronaldo joked that he does not agree with "Barcelona" team leader Lionel Messi.
Both forwards have dominated European football in recent years and are considered the best footballers of all time. Over the past few years, the awards for the best player in the world ("Ballon d'Or") have been shared by C.Ronaldo and L.Messi.
Due to the intense competition between these two super talents, there has been much talk and speculation about their relationship, even suggesting personal conflicts.
However, Ronaldo denied such rumors, stating that he and Messi have professional relationships and no disagreements between them.
"It's not true that my relationship with L.Messi is tense. We are colleagues and our relationship is professional. We don't communicate beyond the pitch, like I do with other footballers. He tries to show what he's capable of playing for the club and national team, just like me. It's a certain competition when we both try to give our best," said the 29-year-old Portuguese.
"This competitive battle is part of my life. It's normal for people to compare me. Just like in Formula-1 they compare "Ferrari" and "Mercedes." I'm used to it. This was happening even before I joined the "Real" team."
"I hope that we both can laugh about this. Football is a fun game that we both love. We have to take this competition positively, as it's not a bad thing. Football is a wonderful thing that fans enjoy," concluded the forward.
