Portugal's national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo admits that he still feels some pain in his knee, but assures that he will be ready to step onto the field in the first World Cup match.
Today, Portugal faces tournament favorites Germany in Group G. Until now, Portugal was unsure if C.Ronaldo would be able to play, but the Real Madrid forward hopes to take part in the game.
"Fitness problems are already in the past," C.Ronaldo said at a press conference. "Since the beginning of my career, there hasn't been a day when I played without feeling pain, but that's just part of the job."
"Of course, I would like to be 110 percent ready, but I am only at 100 percent. I believe that's enough for me to help my national team," the forward added.
C.Ronaldo also insisted that Portugal's national team does not depend solely on him, and in this World Cup, he simply wants to enjoy playing football.
"I don't think one player makes a team. As I've said before, I just help the team achieve better results. Football is my life, and I play this game with great passion. That's why I constantly strive for new challenges. Now I am at the World Cup and I want to enjoy it," concluded the all-time top scorer for the Portugal national team.
