24 hours before the breath-taking World Championship quarterfinal match against England, the Portugal national team and "Manchester United" club's right-back missed the team's training session as he wants to recover from a knee injury.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the national team's manager Luiz Felipe Scolari admitted he didn't know whether the young talent who missed Friday's training session would be able to recover in time for Saturday's match.
"He might play, and he might not. I know, I don't know. I can't imagine if he will be able to play or not. I hope he can, because I saw him gaining strength, but maybe he won't appear in that match," said the coach in his typical ambiguous style.
Meanwhile, the team's press representative Alfonso Melo stated that C. Ronaldo is training separately, but he hasn't fully recovered yet: "If he's not ready to play at full 100%, head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari won't let him onto the field."
C. Ronaldo suffered a knee injury in the round of 16 match against the Netherlands national team when the 21-year-old player was roughly tackled by the opponents' defender Khalid Boulahrouz.
