Cristiano Ronaldo has no doubts that the Portuguese national team is capable of reaching the final of the European Championship.
The forward scored the only goal in the quarter-final match against the Czech Republic, which opened the way for the Portuguese to fight for a place in the final against France or Spain.
“Our goal is the final. We have a great team, so the chances are 50-50. We just need to believe,” said C. Ronaldo. “We are mature, so we are ready to fight.”
And he continued: “I think the quarter-final was fantastic for our team. We played very well in the first 20 minutes, but then the game level rose sharply. After all, the Czechs did not create any opportunities near our goal.”
The Czech national team only had two shots on goal against the Portuguese and did not hit the target once.
Coach Paulo Bento added that they have no desired opponent in the semi-finals: “In a tournament of this level, there will always be a strong opponent in the semi-finals, with their own strengths. We put a lot of effort to reach this stage, so we will have to work hard to recover. We have no other goal than victory.”
