Portugal's national team member has extended his contract with an English club for two more years. The 20-year-old right-back will represent the club until 2010 under the new contract.
"I am very happy and proud that I was finally able to sign a new contract. This is an important step in my career," said Ronaldo, who played 40 matches for Manchester United last season and scored 9 goals.
"This shows our position regarding young players in the team and we believe that Cristiano will become a great player. We negotiated intensively for the last six months, there were no problems, but because his agent was in Portugal, we were delayed a bit. This is great news for both the club and his fans," said Manchester United's head coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
