Although Madrid's "Atletico" footballers beat Madrid's "Real" club 4-0 over the weekend, the latter's star Cristiano Ronaldo did not let this overshadow his 30th birthday celebrations.
Photos were published in the media showing C.Ronaldo and several other "Real" footballers enjoying the birthday festivities as if nothing happened.
Goal.com reported that some "Real" players didn't like the Portuguese's celebration immediately after the humiliating defeat.
"Your joy is our shame," a banner was raised by "Real" supporters near the training base.
Captain Iker Casillas and vice-captain Sergio Ramos were displeased by C.Ronaldo's behavior.
C.Ronaldo partied with Pepe, Marcelo, Fabio Coentrao, James Rodriguez, Luka Modric, Sami Khedira, and Keylor Navas.
"Real" assistants Paul Clement and Fernando Hierro also attended the party.
C.Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes explained that his client did nothing wrong. However, the player was upset that photos from the lively party were leaked.
"Cristiano couldn't cancel the party, as all his relatives and friends had gathered in Madrid. People should support him. After all, he is the most professional footballer in the world and a true example for others," Mendes insisted.
