Cruyff: Do not underestimate Laporta's work in Barcelona © EuroFootball.com

Former "Barcelona" player and coach Johan Cruyff believes that the current leaders of the Catalan club should stop fueling unnecessary tensions and trying to undermine the work of Joan Laporta.

According to the legendary Dutchman, such actions could have a negative impact in the future and may affect the team's results.

Newly appointed "Barcelona" president Sandro Rosell immediately made public the news that the Catalan team is facing financial difficulties, although he acknowledged that borrowing money was necessary and he would have acted the same way.

Cruyff encourages to stop such speculation in the name of the club's sporting well-being.

"I cannot say how much truth there is in those public statements and accusations, but it is clear that such things should be avoided. All of this is unrelated to the club's sporting activities, so the consequences could be dire. Such things cause concern for the future," the Dutchman is convinced.

The legendary footballer and coach was not convinced by the current team leaders' statements about the "unfair and illogical" management of the club.

"I do not believe that everything was so bad during Laporta's term. There were certainly many good things. The new club leaders should strive to improve the management of Barcelona themselves, rather than trying to criticize the work and decisions of their predecessors," Cruyff ponders.
