In the highest division of Portugal, there was a significant curiosity related to the coronavirus. In the “Primeira Liga” championship, the teams “Belenenses” and “Benfica” met on Saturday night, but one of the teams played with only nine players. The hosts of the match, “Belenenses”, had only nine healthy players in the team due to a COVID-19 outbreak, including two goalkeepers. So, starting the match, “Belenenses” already had a deficit of two players.

After the first half, the result was already 7:0 in favor of “Benfica”. Darwin Nunez scored a hat-trick, Haris Seferovic scored a brace, opponents scored an own goal, and Julian Weigl also excelled. However, the match was interrupted after the first half because one of the “Belenenses” players reportedly faked an injury to have the game suspended, according to the rules.

Even 17 players of the hosting team were sidelined due to coronavirus, with one of the goalkeepers playing in the center-back position.
