Dani Alvesas says that Neymar, who became the most expensive football player in the world, informed him about his decision to move to Paris Saint-Germain a few weeks ago.
The forward did so in order to convince his teammate in the Brazilian national team to sign a contract with the French vice-champions.
It was already practically clear that the 34-year-old veteran would play for Manchester City, led by his former coach Pep Guardiola, but ultimately the player changed his mind.
"It was he who advised me to come here, because he himself was ready for it," revealed Alves.
"Being next to your friends is always a pleasure, a great honor. I am sure we will help him feel happy here."
"I have nothing to do with it. Neymar is now huge. He is no longer the young boy who arrived in Barcelona.
"At that time, yes, I helped Neymar and advised him to move to Barcelona, but not to Paris. I practically did nothing."
Neymar has not yet debuted in his team's official matches, but Alves has already made an assist in them. Parisians defeated newcomers "Amiens" with a score of 2-0.
