"Real" Madrid's trainee Dani Carvajal expected a completely different style of football in the capital derby.
This Saturday's Madrid derby ended in a complete draw - neither team scored a goal and the match finished with a nil-nil result. Real Madrid, especially in the second half, tried to press their opponents, but Atletico's defense gates were impenetrable for the hosts.
"For them, draws are like gold," Carvajal said about Atletico's satisfying draws, even though they are currently behind them.
"Every team can play as they want, but when from the first minute you try to waste time and are satisfied with a draw, it is difficult to win against such opponents," added the defender.
After hearing the statistic that the Atletico team has been unable to win at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium for six consecutive matches, Carvajal didn't sweat it at all:
"I will gladly accept that if we never win against them at the Bernabeu, but we will continue to chase the most important trophies."
