„Chelsea“ striker Diego Costa has once again confirmed that he does not plan to return to London and revealed that he has already decided in which team he will continue his career.
The striker, wanting to leave, released a statement on Thursday in which he hopes that his situation will be resolved soon and once again confirmed that returning to „Chelsea“ is not in his plans. Currently in Brazil, the player continues to not communicate with the team's coach Antonio Conte, who, according to reports, texted D. Costa in June saying that he no longer sees the striker's future in his team.
„My decision has already been made. I must return to Atletico Madrid,“ says D. Costa in his statement.
Atletico cannot register players until next January, but D. Costa would have nothing against joining the team now and training for a few months until the ban on registering new players is lifted and he is allowed to play for the Madrid team. However, the situation is complicated by the fact that „Chelsea“ is not willing to give in and has refused to reduce the requested £40 million and has already rejected a £26 million offer that Atletico made for the striker this summer.
„It seems that we are at a standstill because „Chelsea“ does not want to let me go. However, I hope that the situation will be resolved soon and I will return to Spain,“ D. Costa hopes.
Speaking with Daily Mail on Sunday, the player said that „Chelsea“ treats him like a criminal and admitted that he would like to return to Madrid: „I told them: if the coach does not need me, then I want to move to Atletico Madrid.“
The player, who first moved to Atletico in 2007, also revealed that he rejected all other team offers, including the possibility of moving to China.
„I rejected other offers. They wanted to sell me to China and other teams. But if I leave, I will go to where I want to play, not to the club that pays the most. I want the transfer to Atletico to be completed this month. My plan is to go to Madrid, train there, get in the best physical shape, and return to the field to get into the World Cup,“ confessed the 28-year-old player.
Despite D. Costa's clear wishes, the player's situation could become even more complicated in the near future. On Wednesday, The Telegraph reported that the „Chelsea“ team plans to take the striker to court if he continues to ignore the club's demands to return to team training.
