The newspaper "The Athletic" announces that "Manchester United" veteran David de Gea is willing to reduce his salary in order to sign a new contract with the current team.
The 31-year-old Spaniard currently earns 375 thousand pounds sterling per week, and his contract expires in June 2023.
"Red Devils" coach Erik ten Hag mentioned that negotiations will only start after the World Cup. The Dutchman said in a press conference:
"First, we said that we focus on matches, then we have the World Cup, and only then we can think about his contract.
"We have our strategies on how to deal with it. It is already clear, and I have emphasized this several times already."
David de Gea played 17 matches this season, conceding 19 goals and keeping his goal dry 8 times.
