"Roma" team captain Daniele De Rossi opened up about the approaching end of his career.
Currently, the 35-year-old defender is recovering from a knee cartilage operation and insists that another serious injury would erase all his hopes of continuing to play professionally.
"When I was young, I could hardly believe that I would play so many matches within the team.
I was lucky - in my favorite city, in the sight of special people, I did a beloved job. This allows me to calm my thoughts, knowing that the end is near, especially considering this injury.
I felt what it means to be separated from the team and I know how painful it will be when I have to end my career.
It doesn't matter if it happens in a few months, a year or three - my time is running out.
The future? I dream of becoming a coach, but then I have to think about all the peculiarities of the strategists' work, and what frightens me the most is giving a hundred interviews per week," De Rossi said.
