Daniele De Rossi is the highest-paid player in Serie A, and the total amount spent on salaries in the league increased by 33 million euros this summer. After three years during which most Serie A clubs were trying to save money, funds started flowing back into the league. According to "Gazzetta dello Sport," this year Serie A club salaries have grown to 882 million euros. The peak was reached in 2011 when teams spent 1.1 billion euros on salaries. Juventus pays the most to its players - a total of 124 million euros per season, with the highest-paid player being Paul Pogba, earning 4.5 million euros. This summer, Lazio (from 55 million to 52) and Fiorentina (from 56 million to 46) managed to reduce their salary amounts. Following them are Roma (113 million), Milan (101 million), and spendthrift but at the same time players receiving high salaries, such as Mateo Kovačić, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Hernanes, who have parted ways with Inter (94 million). However, Inter still pays substantial amounts to unnecessary players, such as Nemanja Vidic. Regarding individual players, D. De Rossi leads firmly with 6.5 million euros per season, followed by Gonzalo Higuain (5.5 million), and then the aforementioned P. Pogba. The money spent on (and the highest-earning player of) all Serie A teams: Atalanta: €25m (German Denis, €1m) Bologna: €27m (Mattia Destro, €1.6m) Carpi: €13m (Marco Borriello, €0.55m) Chievo: €16m (Alberto Paloschi, €0.7m) Empoli: €14m (Riccardo Saponara, €0.8m) Fiorentina: €46m (Giuseppe Rossi, €2.4m) Frosinone: €8m (Samuele Longo, €0.3m) Genoa: €26m (Mattia Perin, €1.1m) Inter: €94m (Geoffrey Kondogbia, €3.5m) Juventus: €124m (Paul Pogba, €4.5m) Lazio: €52m (Miroslav Klose, €2m) Milan: €101m (Carlos Bacca, €3.5m) Napoli: €74m (Gonzalo Higuain, €5.5m) Palermo: €24m (Stefano Sorrentino, €1m) Roma: €113m (Daniele De Rossi, €6.5m) Sampdoria: €28m (Eder, €0.9m) Sassuolo: €27m (Domenico Berardi, €1.1m) Torino: €24m (Fabio Quagliarella, €0.85m) Udinese: €25m (Antonio Di Natale, €0.8m) Verona: €21m (Luca Toni, €1.15m)
