"MadridtheRealclub continues its revolution in its composition - their latest acquisition has been revealed.
Didier Deschamps hinted at a press conference that Ferland Mendy, currently in the French national team, will play in the Spanish capital next season.
There have been rumors in the media for some time that the 24-year-old left-back has caught the eye of Real Madrid. Lyon denied the initial reports of an agreement last week, but as indicated by D. Deschamps, the deal was finally completed.
"There are always rumors, I don't know if they affect all players. Maybe it does affect some, especially players like Mendy, who didn't expect an offer from Real Madrid," said D. Deschamps.
"Ferland has great potential. His attacking abilities and transitions from defense to offense are something special. Just two years ago he was playing in Ligue 2, and now he is heading to Real Madrid. He can play with both feet, and he was effective every time he had the opportunity to show himself in the national team," added the coach.
Real Madrid paid 48 million euros for a player who is seen as the ideal candidate to replace Marcelo.
F. Mendy will be the fifth newcomer to the team this summer - joining Rodrygo, Eder Militao, Luka Jovic, and Eden Hazard.
We wish a happy birthday to @ferland_mendy who is celebrating his 24th birthday today! #FiersdetreBleuspic.twitter.com/wJXDScAhER
