The world champion France will soon begin preparations for the European Championship qualifiers, starting with matches against Moldova and Iceland.
Didier Deschamps announced on Thursday the list of national team players who will help the team in the upcoming qualifying cycle. There was quite a stir in the social media, as the coach surprised with some of his choices.
Layvin Kurzawa and Olivier Giroud, who have practically not played in their clubs, were called up to the national team. Kurt Zouma and Samuel Umtiti also received invitations, although the latter has been sidelined due to injuries this season and has lost his starting position at "Barcelona" to his compatriot Clement Lenglet.
However, neither C. Lenglet nor Aymeric Laporte from "Man City" received a call-up. Alexandre Lacazette and Wissam Ben Yedder, who score goals for their clubs, were also left out of the national team.
