D. Drinkwater apologizes to "Chelsea" fans for unsuccessful transfer © JumpStory

For 35 million in 2017, Danny Drinkwater, who was acquired, was one of the worst "Chelsea" transfers of all time. At the time, after a good spell at the "Leicester City" club, the midfielder caught the attention of more than one stronger club. The "Chelsea" club decided it would be a good investment to acquire D. Drinkwater for 35 million pounds, having previously paid 32 million for N'Golo Kante.

This June, the 32-year-old midfielder's contract officially expired. The Englishman wrote about it on social media. "My time at 'Chelsea' club has ended... it's really strange to write about it. Me, the club, and the fans are very disappointed in how everything turned out and there are no doubts about it," wrote D. Drinkwater.

Injuries, the way I was treated, mistakes I made, problems beyond the pitch, lack of playing time, excuses can be many, but I cannot change what happened," he continued. "I apologize to the 'Chelsea' fans for how everything eventually turned out, it would have been very enjoyable to play my best football wearing those jerseys, doing what I love the most," regretted D. Drinkwater. With the 'Chelsea' jerseys, the midfielder played only 12 matches in the 'Premier League.'
