As reported, Uruguayan national team striker Diego Forlan has extended his contract with the Spanish club until 2010. The player mentioned about the contract extension at a press conference at the beginning of this week, and on Sunday the news was confirmed.
"I am very happy at Villarreal. It shows when I train and communicate with my teammates at the club. I feel very comfortable here and I have never seen myself leaving this club," said D. Forlan.
The 27-year-old striker, whose previous contract was valid until 2009, arrived at the Spanish club for 3.2 million euros from the English team "Man Utd" two years ago.
During his first season spent at Villarreal, he became the top scorer in La Liga with 25 goals and helped the club secure a place in the UEFA Champions League. Last season, D. Forlan performed a bit more modestly - scoring 10 goals, and his team finished in 7th place and will participate in the Intertoto Cup.
