The head coach of Marijampolė's "Sūduva" Dovydas Lastauskas said ahead of Sunday's home game (kick-off at 8 p.m.) against Hegelmann from Kaunas district that they are expecting another very tough match, but the team is motivated to achieve a positive result.
After 19 rounds, "Hegelmann" has 25 points and holds 4th place in the "Optibet A League". Meanwhile, "Sūduva" with 18 points is in 8th place.
Today's match will be the third in 8 days for the team from Kaunas district. On June 24, "Hegelmann" played a draw 0:0 at home against Alytus' "Dainava", and on June 28, they won 3:1 away against "Šiauliai".
"We are expecting a very tough match against a team that has been showing good form lately. This was evident in both matches against Šiauliai and Dainava, where the team controlled the game even with one player less," said Sūduva's head coach D. Lastauskas.
The match against Hegelmann brings mixed feelings for the coach. On March 11, "Sūduva" defeated the Kaunas district team 2:0 at home, marking the coach's first victory at the helm of the Marijampolė team. However, in the second round in Kaunas, the opponents took revenge with a 6:0 victory, the most painful defeat for Sūduva this season.
Our plan remains the same as in all previous matches - to go out and fight for the win. We all know how the last game between us ended, so today there will be double motivation to prove that it was just a very unlucky day for us," said D. Lastauskas.
Sūduva ended their last two matches in a draw. On June 10, they played a 0:0 draw at home against Vilnius' "Riteriai", and on June 22, they drew 1:1 away against "Kauno Žalgiris".
