Argentina played a 1-1 draw with Iceland, and yesterday lost 0-3 to Croatia. It was the latter match that caused a lot of talk and considerable displeasure with the Argentina team.
The Argentinian press does not spare the national team a lot of criticism. They also target the country's star, Lionel Messi, who missed a penalty against Iceland and was invisible against the Croatians.
Nevertheless, legendary Argentinian footballer Diego Maradona stood up to defend one of the best footballers on the planet.
"When I played badly, Valdano, Burruchaga appeared, protected my back and helped me. Messi has nothing. He is completely alone," D. Maradona exclaimed.
