D. Moyes: I rejected offers from other teams for Real Sociedad club

David Moyes revealed that while working as a coach of Real Sociedad, he turned down offers from other teams. The former strategist of Manchester United and Everton was dismissed after losing to Las Palmas, after which the Spanish team finished 16th in La Liga with nine points in eleven matches. After the club's decision, Moyes expressed his dissatisfaction with the dismissal and emphasized that last season he managed to help the team avoid relegation to a lower division and rejected offers from several other clubs to stay in Spain. However, the coach expressed his enjoyment of working in Spain and spoke warmly about the city of San Sebastian and the club itself. "I am disappointed that I had to leave Real Sociedad. When I was appointed as the team's coach, my objectives were to stay in the league and I achieved them with flying colors, as the team finished 12th. I believe we made great progress last season, and the victory at home against Barcelona was a highlight," said Moyes. "I was determined to honor my contract with Real Sociedad, and I am disappointed that I was not allowed to continue this commitment, especially after rejecting offers from other clubs in recent months. After twelve years in the Premier League, I am grateful for the opportunity to work abroad and learn so much from it. I would like to thank the club and the president for giving me the opportunity to work in Spain. I want to thank the players, the staff, and my assistant for their support, as well as all the people of San Sebastian. Working in your city was a pleasure, and your warmth and kindness made me feel at home," Moyes said in a statement released by the League Managers Association. Former Barcelona assistant coach and second team coach Eusebio Sacristan took over the reins of the Real Sociedad team.
