Currently unemployed David Moyes claims that no coach could have done better than him at Manchester United when the team was left by Sir Alex Ferguson.
In 2013, D. Moyes took over the coaching reins of the "Red Devils" after legendary Ferguson retired from football. The debut season for the strategist was dismal - very poor results and dismissal from the coaching position in April.
However, D. Moyes insists that the problem was not only him - other coaches would have struggled at Man Utd at that time, as there were issues within the team itself.
"I hundred percent agree that as a Manchester United coach you have to win matches. I didn't win enough of them," Moyes told the Daily Mirror.
"But I don't think any other coach would have achieved better results in such a short time since Ferguson left the club.
There were many changes within the team. Not only did I replace Alex, but David Gill also left the club, and Ed Woodward had just taken on new responsibilities.
It all takes time, which I needed more of. I took over a team that was the champion of England, but that summer clubs like Chelsea and Man City spent huge sums to compete with us.
It was tough for me to march into Old Trafford with a team that had just won the title," Moyes concluded.
