San Sebastian's "Real Sociedad" coach David Moyes believes that when the time comes for Wayne Rooney to be surpassed in the attacking line of the England national team by younger players, he should step back into the midfield and play in a defensive position.
The 29-year-old sniper, who made his debut for Liverpool's "Everton" team under the guidance of the same Moyes, has represented the national team for over a decade, and yesterday, scoring his 49th goal, equaled the legendary Bobby Charlton.
"I can easily see Rooney playing in the midfield for another year or two," Moyes told the BBC. "I think he has the right qualities. In my eyes, when his legs are no longer as fast, because he is such a good footballer and passes well, he could play in other positions."
"Wayne's clock will keep ticking for a while, but I think he could play a little longer in the matches."
