Sevilla club security guard David Odonkor fell out of the lineup for three months due to a knee injury. The son of a German and Ghanaian citizen was injured in the qualifying match for the 2008 European Championship between Germany and Cyprus last week.
Examinations revealed that D. Odonkor had a crack in his knee cartilage, which will require surgery. The 22-year-old footballer will return to the pitch only after three months.
D. Odonkor arrived at "Betis" before this season from Dortmund's "Borussia" club, where he played since 2001, and unexpectedly successful in this summer's World Cup as part of the German national team.
After D. Odonkor's injury, "Betis" became even more interested in trying to sign Alberto Luque from "Newcastle." This Spanish player is also sought after by "Barcelona."
