Playing a great season for "West Ham United," defender Declan Rice has made the decision to represent the England national football team from now on. The player informed the football community about his choice on his social media account.
The defender, who holds dual nationality, represented the Irish national teams at the youth level, and made his debut for the national team of that country last year. However, today D. Rice announced that he has approached FIFA organization to change his national team to the England team.
"In recent months, I have talked a lot about this situation with my parents, family, girlfriend, and closest friends. I have also communicated with the coaches and colleagues of both national teams, whose opinion I respect. I am grateful to them for the support I received in making this decision," wrote D. Rice on social media.
The "Hammers" defender also assured that this change of national team does not guarantee him a place in the England team.
"This request does not guarantee me a place in the England team. Respecting Ireland, I wanted to announce this decision now and end all speculations on this topic."
D. Rice managed to play three matches for the Ireland national football team.
