Atletico Madrid's coach Diego Simeone believes that his team is on the right path and is confident that they will eventually triumph in the UEFA Champions League.
"Los Matracai" have lost to Madrid's "Real" club in the last four seasons, with two of those defeats coming in the tournament final.
However, the coach who recently signed a new contract is convinced that his players are capable of becoming the strongest in Europe, and they do not dwell on past losses.
"We have never had any complexes," Simeone said at a press conference.
"Everyone has their own opinion, but we understand very well what happened last year. That's experience, but the most important thing is tomorrow. I look towards the coming day, and we start an intriguing tournament."
Speaking to the fans at the "Calderon" stadium, he stated that he still believes in the future of the club. "Atleti" is growing, we have young players who are also growing, we can strengthen the squad in January, we have a new stadium... Many things renew my energy."
"The games in those finals are something we should be proud of, and winning one of them would be the ultimate goal. We lost one to Madrid ("Real") in just one minute, the other one in a penalty shootout."
"It gave us experience and we had great results in the Champions League. If we continue like this, sooner or later we will achieve it."
Atletico will start their European campaign tonight against Roma.
