Diego Simeone is convinced that Diego Costa played his best match yesterday in the UEFA Europa League since returning to the Spanish team.
Atletico won 2-0 at home against Lisbon's Sporting yesterday. D. Costa did not stand out in these matches, but in the first minute of the game he took the ball from the opponents and made a great assist to Koke, who scored.
D. Simeone believes that even without scoring in these matches, D. Costa was one of the best players on the field.
"He was like a beast today - running a lot, participating in every attack, pressing the opponents, and maintaining discipline throughout the game," the coach said after the match.
"I think since he returned to Spain to play for us, these were his best games," D. Simeone concluded.
The 29-year-old forward has scored six goals and made five assists in 16 games this season.
